In a rapidly growing and dynamic African tech ecosystem, gender equity remains a critical lever for unlocking untapped potential.

 

Female founders continue to face significant barriers to funding and scaling their businesses, with systemic challenges deeply rooted in investor mindsets, legacy networks, and unequal access to capital markets. In 2024, female-founded startups secured only 7% of total equity funding in Africa, a decline from 17% in 2023, marking a five-year low.
