About the event

We, investors and stakeholders in the African startup ecosystem, hereby endorse the DCA Governance Toolkit, to show our unwavering commitment to supporting strong governance practices as the cornerstone for building and scaling successful startups across the African continent.  Recognizing the immense potential that African startups hold in driving economic growth, innovation, and job creation, we acknowledge that the foundation for sustainable success lies in robust governance structures.   We commit to: 1. Prioritize Governance: We commit to prioritizing strong governance principles in our investment decisions, valuing startups that exhibit transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.  2. Further Mentorship and Education: We will actively engage with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship support organizations to provide guidance and mentorship on governance best practices, helping them navigate the complexities of building and scaling well managed businesses.  3. Enhance Due Diligence: We pledge to conduct thorough due diligence, placing a significant emphasis on assessing the governance framework of startups seeking our investment, ensuring alignment with domestic and international standards.  4. Advocate For Board Diversity: We will actively advocate for diverse and inclusive boards within the startups we support, acknowledging the value of varied perspectives and backgrounds.  5. Standardize Reporting and Compliance: We will encourage startups to build towards and to maintain the highest standards of financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements, fostering trust among stakeholders.  6. Collaborate and Share Knowledge: We will collaborate with other investors, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders to share knowledge, best practices, and resources to strengthen the startup ecosystem in Africa.  By endorsing this toolkit, we commit to fostering a culture of strong governance, accountability, and sustainability across the African startup ecosystem. Together, we can unlock the full potential of African entrepreneurship and drive positive change on the continent.
